Spring is Here, and Spring Style has Sprung!

I don’t know how excited you are but I am so darn HAPPY that it is finally spring! I broke out my spring style favorites and had a ritualistic burning of all of my winter clothing because I was too filled with joy to think rationally.

SPRING IS HERE!

I so rarely remember to take photos of my outfits, so I’m treating you a ‘lil bit, showing you what I look like without a sweater and a beanie.

Crop tops never went out of style for me; my stomach has been hanging out freely since 1985. I grabbed this one in two colors from H&M last summer. I paired the short shirt with a knit sweater vest (I’ve worn it death for years!) and one of my favorite pairs of jeans. The jeans are also an old school classic with an equally old school label. They’re FUBU. [insert laugh track here] They harken back to the days when most denim seemed to be not quite that and have more structure than most “true” denim. They are stretchy and have a perfect medium rise and I bought them two sizes too big and ended up with a perfectly hip slung, elegant, boyfriend jean. I bought them sometime in college, probably around 2004. I couldn’t find the jeans I wanted, so I made them. I spent most of this day sitting so I could finally find the justification to teeter around in these beautiful, blush suede pumps from Zara.

The outfit was really second fiddle to my other production that day…my return to YouTube! This first video is worth the watch:

How Fear of Success Almost Stopped Me Cold

My business, The Right Style, is where I store my confidence. Let’s get real honest here: I became a skin care and image consultant because my mother was. She is an Executive Director with Beauticontrol, and she gave me the “gift” of my own business for my 18th birthday. Frankly, it was a gift I didn’t want.

I saw her business and her success and KNEW that I could never do that. So, for years, I ignored it. I use the products and have pretty great skin as a result, but when people asked me the inevitable question, “What do you use?” I would tell them Beauticontrol and REFER THEM TO MY MOTHER.

Lol_wut
I was sabotaging my chances to consider even being a success because I crossed the possibility off the list.  I was terrified that if I actually opened my mouth and told people what I did they would throw eggs at me and push me off a street corner. I was living in a state of constant fear of success.

[Tweet “A wild, out-of-control fear of success held me back. What’s stopping you from living your dreams?”]

TRS Pick: MarieTV

I have been totally MIA lately. I’m sorry! I haven’t taken the time to sit in front of my computer and write and share with you and yell at you about my opinions. (I kid! I try not to yell.) My computer life is definitely still popping (are you following me on Twitter? Instagram? You should be!) but in a totally different way. I’m in business building mode and I have found one of my new business best friends and my TRS Pick: Marie Forleo.

The secret to finding your passion is to bring it to everything you do. Marie Forleo

Marie says this about herself:

I often say if Tony Robbins, Richard Branson, Oprah and Jay-Z had a love child, it would be me. That’s because I’m part business strategist, part marketing maven and part spiritual ass-kicker with a side of hip-hop swagger.

February BeautiControl Product Haul!

Product Haul Beauticontrol

Man, oh man! Days like today remind me why I got into the beauty biz. It’s freezing out, the world has been drowned in snow and my poor defenseless skin needs some TLC. I took a bath and soaked in some of BeautiControl’s Detox Bath Soak and then after shoveling snow for LITERALLY two hours– seriously. TWO HOURS.– Mama needs a hand treatment. I love being a BeautiControl consultant and getting amazing products delivered to my door and at a discount. Having my favorite stuff on hand is of the utmost importance to me and that’s when I say, “Damn, I’m glad I’m in the beauty business!”

I got a particularly epic product haul this week. I’m talking I placed an order for a little over 150 dollars retail–8 products–and I got 7 products F.R.E.E. Yes, girl!

I got a "Haul" lotta love. Get it? Get it?!
