TRS Pick: MarieTV

I have been totally MIA lately. I’m sorry! I haven’t taken the time to sit in front of my computer and write and share with you and yell at you about my opinions. (I kid! I try not to yell.) My computer life is definitely still popping (are you following me on Twitter? Instagram? You should be!) but in a totally different way. I’m in business building mode and I have found one of my new business best friends and my TRS Pick: Marie Forleo.

The secret to finding your passion is to bring it to everything you do. Marie Forleo

Marie says this about herself:

I often say if Tony Robbins, Richard Branson, Oprah and Jay-Z had a love child, it would be me. That’s because I’m part business strategist, part marketing maven and part spiritual ass-kicker with a side of hip-hop swagger.

Embrace Self-Promotion: 6 Easy Steps to Getting Out There

I have made a groundbreaking discovery. Self-promotion is NOT a dirty word!

I have always wrestled with this. It’s not that I’m not aware of what I’m good at– I’m pretty self-reflective– it’s just that unless explicitly asked, I’m not going to tell you about it. This aversion to tooting my own horn has held me back throughout my life. Seriously, who’s going to tell you how amazing I am if I don’t? (I kid! A little.)

Though I am not trying to take myself to Donna Meagle and Tom Haverford levels (seriously, I can’t believe this is the last season of Parks and Recreation), I am taking the time to promote myself and my business and treat my doggone self to success!

More Branding Business

You might remember when we had that chat about the business of Beauti. It was a good one…I remember it fondly. I was telling you all about the importance of marketing yourself and your business and presenting a unified front across your personal and professional lives– something that is a ONE HUNDRED PERCENT must when you’re a sole proprietor like me. I showed you the delightful cards that I created for my mother and her team and everything…

BeautiCards

Isn’t she lovely?

I was in business, but I was in business for everyone else and not myself! Ooops. BeautiControl renewed and totally changed their messaging and brand identity and I love it but that means I’ve got some new cards and finally get all of my stuff TOGETHER.

So I’ve got a question for you folks, what do you like best about The Right Style? What kind of things do you want to see on all of the new brand materials? Tell me in the comments!

BE Revealed

Beauticontrol’s Celebration is over. I’m listless and tired– I think the lack of pulse-pounding music first thing in the morning is getting me down. The only thing tiding me over is the knowledge that I am going to get to share the experience with all of you!

First things first, take a look at the NEW Beauticontrol…

Photograph Me

That New York Times article was right. Sometimes you really need more than a selfie.

Makeup artists and photographers have a natural alliance. So when Richmond, Virginia photographer, Sean DeWitt, told me that he had a model shoot, I saw this as a perfect opportunity to exercise my makeup artistry. Honestly, I never knew how many women did not feel confident doing their own makeup. My mother, Kyle (whom I’ve talked about before) is a makeup artist extraordinaire and being raised at her feet, I was bound to pick up a few– quite a few– tricks.

I was unable to resist doing a little rebranding and a grabbing a photo before I was done with Sean…

So– what do you think?
